For those who choose to assign a letter or number grade to elementary courses, the systems of grading and samples below might be helpful.
Point System Grading
One method of grading is using a point system. In this method, each assignment is given a point value. Individual categories of grades are not needed, so this allows you flexibility to adjust the worth of individual assignments throughout the year. Start by assigning tests a value of 100 points. For each assignment, give a point value based on its worth in comparison to a test. Click below for a blank template as well as a sample form.
Category Grading
Another method for grading is to group assignments into categories and assign a weight to each category. For example, tests might be worth 60%, daily assignments 25%, and projects 15%. Just be sure your categories add up to 100%! Click below for a blank template as well as a sample form. The instructions for each are included on the SAMPLE forms.
